BURNS AND ROE, INC. ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES In your letter of May 16, 1980 you informed us that the position of Director of Quality Assurance Division has been deleted and that two new positions, the Director of Project Support and Quality Assurance Divisions and the Manager of Corporate Quality Assurance, have been created.

You also state that the position of Manager of Planning and Engineering (QA) has been deleted.

Prior to completing our review, we require additional information to demonstrate that the organizational changes you have implemented will not result in a less effective quality assurance program. Our understanding of the information pro-vided in your May 16 letter is that the individual with responsibilities solely in the area of quality assurance now reports at a lower organizational level than previously. This individual is now the Manager of Corporate Quality Assurance and was formerly the Director of Quality Assurance Divisions.

Please discuss this organizational change relative to its influence on the effectivity of the quality assurance program.

In your response, identify the organizational entity that has been assigned the authority and responsibilities previously assigned to QA Planning and Engineering.

Also, provide a description of both the QA and non-QA responsibilities of the Director of Project Support and Quality Assurance Divisions.

Finally, we call your attention to the third paragraph of our letter of February 13, 1978 indicating acceptance of B& Roe, COM4-1-NP, Revision 1.

This paragraph con-cludes with the following:

Programmatic changes by Burns and Roe, Inc. to this topical report are to be submitted to NRC for review prior to implementation. Organiza-tional changes which do not affect the program are to be submitted no later than 30 days after announcement.

Please meet the above schedule when reporting future organizational changes.
