Dear !!r. Grier:

IE Eulletin No.79-03A concerns longitudinal veld defects in ASME SA-312 Type 304 Stainless Stee'. Pipe. This bulletin directed us to determine whether any fusion velled pipe of this materini was in use or planned for use in safety-relate 1 systems subject to design stresses greater than 85 percent of the Code allowable stresses.

Stress eniculations were performed on all pieces of SA-312 Type 30h Stainless Steel Pipe.

"ne results indicated that there were no pieces loaded to any value g cater than 77.5 percent code allowable stress. A typical value was 30 percent.
