Operating License DPR-73 Docket No. 50-320 Interim Solid Radwaste Staging Facility In our letter to yDu on December 21,1979, (GQL 1509), we indicated that we would submit our preliminary specifications for the Interim Solid Waste Staging Facility in February, 1980.
In subsequent letters dated March 3, 1980 and April 8, 1980, (TLL 106 and TLL 152 respectively), we forwarded revised submission dates.
Work efforts are proceeding on the generation of the design criteria for the Interim Solid Radwaste Staging Facility. These criteria will identify that the intended use for the facility is to provide an area to assemble low-level solid radwaste generated from Units I and II prior to shipment offsite for disposal.
Commensurate with the intended purpose of the facility, the building will be of open air design to enable rapid construction to support the expeditions decontami-nation of TMI-II.
Basically, the design consists of a concrete slab (with curb and sump) covered by a non-combustible roof. This facility will be sized to accomodate the assemblage of solid waste that may be generated over a six-month period and be provided with a fence to restrict access.
The design criteria for the Interim Solid Radwaste Staging Facility are currently being finalized. They will be transmitted for your review in July, 1980.
