In accordance with the requirements of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Co= mission, Mec-Ed plans to schedule training for TMI Fire Brigade personnel.

In order to perform said training, we understand that it will be necessary to obtain an Open Burning Permit from PaDER.

I In follow-up to an April 29, 1980 telephone conversation between yourself and our Mr. E. S. Nielsen, we are supplying the infornacion necessary for PaDER to review prior to the issuance of an Open Burning Permit.

Fire Brigade Training for Metropolitan Edison Company (Met-Ed). The instructor is certified by the Pennsylvania State Fire School and is a Het-Ed employee.

Dates and Alternate Dates the Training is to be Conducted:

Currently scheduled dates are July 24, 31; August 7, 14, 21, and 28, 1980.

Alternate dates for makeup sessions are September 4, 11, 18, and 25; October 2 and 9, 1980. The dates detailed herein are subject to change.

All training will be conducted between 0700 and 1600 hours0.0185 days <br />0.444 hours <br />0.00265 weeks <br />6.088e-4 months <br />, 4.

Location of Training Site:

Training will be performed in an area on Three Mile Island to the north of the Unit i natural draft cooling towers.

These are the cooling towers closest to the North Bridge (main entrance to TMI).

Reason for Traininst and Estimate of Type and Amount of Fuels to be Burned:

This training is being performed in accordance with requirements of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission which requires that the TMI Fire Brigade perform annual training in accordance with NFPA 27 " Private Fire Brigades".

It is estimated that during each training session, about 75 gallons of a mixture of approximately 50% Number 2 fuel oil and 50% gasoline will be burned in addition to scrap lumber which will be burned in a pile approxi-mately 10 feet in diameter and six (6) feet high.
