Dear Ms. Naumbury:
Your April 3,1980. letter to President Carter has recently been referred to the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission for reply. In your letter, you indicated concern that nothing was being done to make the existing nuclear reactors in the United States safe.
A copy of the May 2, 1980.Three Mi k Island Unit 2 (TMI-2) Action ? b.
is enclosed for your informathn. This Action Plan was presented to the NRC Connissioners on My 2,1980, and has been adopted.
This Action Plan implements reconnendations of the President's Consissiort and other studies resulting from THI-2 to include the Lessons Learned.
The Action Plan includes new and improved safety objectives, the detailed criteria for their implementation and the various implementation deadlines.

Any new safety requirements arising from the approved Action Plan will Lave to be evaluated to determine whether they are applicable to each nuclear reactor and will be applied accordingly.
