&RESORTGOMPANY 300 PARK BOULEVARo. HERSHEY. P A 17033 May 21, 1980 Mr. Bernard J. Snyder, Program Director Three !!ile Island Program Office Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555

Dear Mr. Snyder:

Thank you very much for your letter of April 21 in regard to the NRC's Environmental Assessment for Decontamination of TMI Unit 2 Reactor Building.

My apology for the delay in responding, but there must have been some Postal Department snafu, for your April 21 letter arrived in my office on Monday, May 19.

That aside, allow me to express my appreciation for being permitted to comment on your proposed venting plan. Having had the opportunity to hear your Commission Chairman, numerous members of the NRC staff at three separate meetings in the Greater Harrisburg Area, and having had an opportunity to check with the Director of Nuclear and Radiation Safety at the Hershey Medical Center, I support venting of krypton gas from TMI Unit 2 as proposed in your study.

Though I don't profess to be a nuclear scientist or a specialist in the field, I believe enough of you who do fit that category have studied the situa-tion and know a great deal more about it than those of us who are constantly bombarded by the emotionalism of the situation. I suggest you get the process underway and concluded as quickly as possible in order that we can move on with the total cleanup and return our area to a degree of normalcy.

Thank you again, Mr. Snyder, for this opportunity to comment and I wish you good luck and Godspeed in this effort.

Cordially, e

/
