20555 Re: Docket No 50-312 Proposed Amendment No. 38 Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 1
Dear Mr. Giambusso:
In response to a letter from Robert A. Purple dated July 1,1975, and in accordance with 10 CFR 50,59, the Sacramento ilunicipal Utility District hereby proposes to amend its Operating License DPR-54 for Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station, Unit No,1, by submitting forty (40) copies of Proposed Amendment No 38 The proposed amendment to Technical Specifications Section 4,14 provides specific testing requirements for the hydraulic shock suppression system at Rancho Seco, On Class 1 components there are 97 Bergen-Patterson units and 38 Grinnell units which have been inspected, tested, and altered according to previous IE Bulletins Nos, 73-3, 73-4 and 75-5, There have been ten complete inspections of the accessible snubbers, totaling 385 individual inspections, giving a grand total of 965 intpections, Of these only three snubbers have been j
found to have a film of oil around the reservoir seal and none of the units indicated oil leakage through the plunger seals, All inspections indicate that there have been no failures of suppressors at Rancho Seco since the initiation of the surveillance program, P ILM i

1 Mr. Angelo Giambusso 2-August 7, 1975 The enclosed replacement pages 4-47, 4-47a, 4-47b, 4-47c and 4-47d revise Rancho Seco Technical Specifications Section 4.14 to comply with the intent of the standardized Technical Specifications for surveillance testing hydraulic snubbers.
