20555 Re:
Operating License DPR-54 Docket No. 50-312 Quarterly Surveillance of Auxiliary Feedwater Pumps
Dear Dr. Rooney:
The Sacramento Municipal Utility District hereby requasts a waiver of the Quarterly Surveillance Requirement contained in Technical Specifications Section 4.8, for the third quarter of 1975.
Rancho Seco Unit No. 1 was in a shutdown condition for turbine repair July, August and September, 1975.
During sur-
)
veillance testing the Auxiliary Feed Pumps take suction from the Condensate Storage Tank and inject flow into the condenser hotwell.
In our present shutdown condition, water quality in the condenser hotwell is significantly lower than that of the Condensate Storage Tank.
Testing of the pumps should be per-formed when feedwater can be processed by normal flowpaths.
In view of the fact that the Auxiliary Feedwater Pumps are only required for emergency feedwater injection during an i
accident at operating conditions, pump availability was not necessary during the third quarter. The surveillance test will be performed prior to startup, which is currently expected to be in early November, 1975. This testing will meet Technical Specifications Section 4.8 Requirements for the fourth quarter i
of 1975.
