In accordance with Technical Specifications for Rancho Seco Nuclear Generating Station, Section 6.9.1, and Regulatory Guide 1.16, Revision 4, Sec-cion C.2.6.2, the Sacramento Municipal Ut'lity District is hereby reporting g

the following as Reportable Occurrence RO 77-7.
j On June 20, 1977, the quarterly surveillance test for reactor building isolation valves was being perforned, which strokes the valves to insure operability. During this surveillance tha inside containment valve on the pressurizer sample line, SIV-70001, faller.: to close on control room signal.
The redundant isolation valve outside containment, SFV-70002, was operable and! ?
closed, maintaining containment integrity. A check was made of the control fuse on the breaker for the valve, and it was found to be satisfactory. The >*
valve was then cycled several times without failure. 'Ihe circuitry was check' d e
by an electrician on a work request that was filed on the valve, and no defec-tive components could be found. The valve was returned to service and was operated successfully several times prior to the Plant Review Committee review of the occurrence. After that review. the valve was cycled one more time to insure operability. The valve successfully passed this test and no further corrective action was taken.
The valve is a 3/4" Velan, model B4-354B-13MS with a I.imitorque model SMP-00-5 operator. There was no plant transient associated with this occur-rence.
