Dear Mr. Stello:
In response to your request to provide you with a detailed schedule for our avaluation of asymmetric LOCA loads on Davis-Besse Nuclear Power St.ati(1 Unit No. 1, we have attached a report entitled " Toledo Edison Company Asymmetric LOCA Loads Evaluations Program for Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit No. 1".
The schedule presented is consistent with your intentions to resolve this issue within approximately two years.
As can be determined from the report, we plan to evaluate the asymmetric loads issue in three distinct phases with the execution of Phases II and III being dependent on the results of Phase I.
Only the details of the Phase I evaluation have been included in the attached report. Should we find it necessary to proceed to Phases II and III, we will transmit de-tailed schedules and implementation plans to you in advance of executing these phases.
Please note that we hope to utilize results of a similar analysis on our Davis-Besse 2 and 3 Units if possible and where permissible plan to take advantage of any generic B&W analyses. When doing so, we will provide justification for the approach taken.
