SUMMARY
OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE OPERATION:
The plant began and ended the month in Refueling mode.
The core reload was finished on 5-26-60.
Internals baffle plate joint water-jet impingement was confirmed to have taken place through joint gaps resulting in damage to one rod in each of two fuei-assemblies. The affected joint gaps were measured but were not repaired, due to technical problems and scheduling difficulties with the repair tool. The_two new fuel assemblies destined for the affected perimeter locations were modified to replace three fuel pins in each with dummy stainless-steel rod replacements.
Auxiliary building walls were determined to have less strength than had been assumed for seismic events.
MAJOR SAFETY-RELATED MAINTENANCE:
Work continued on improvement modifications to the Plant Security and Fire Protection systems.
Work continued on the removal for analysis of 29 steam generator D Row 1 tubes.
Work completed on Inservice Inspection of Class 1, 2, and 3 equipment.
Work continued on Local Leak Rate Testing.
Work completed on radiographic examination of feedwater lines for cracks.
Work continued on modification of piping systems restraints and supports.
Work continued on several TMI-related design modifications (RV head vent, RV water level, containment water level, post LOCA environment electrical equipment assessment, safe shutdown remote instrumentation and decouple switches, separate power supply to steam PORV and AFWP pressure instrument).
Work continued on masonry wall inspection, review and repair.
Work completed on MSIV inspection and modification.
Work began on finding and plugging tube leaks in steam generators A and B.
LICENSE CHANGES:
None MISCELLANEOUS:
Sizeable volcanic activity occurred at Mt. St. Helens on 5-18-80.
Though no lava has been discharged, the area north of the mountain was severely affected,by the blast, ash, and mud flow. No seismic movements, significant ash fallout, or mud flow has occurred at the Trojan site. Turbine-generator high and low pressure
. cell inspection and CV overhaul continued.
