Vas; allo's letter regirding upgraded emergency plans. The letter forwarded draft acceptance criteria, a proposed rule and a draft of IEEEG-0610 and directed that uperadM energency plans be sub-mitted by June,1980, in accordance with Fentlatory Guide 1.101 and the aforementioned guidance.

'"he letter is apnlicable to Houston Lighting & Pcwer Company's South Texas Project, Urits 1 and 2.

The guidance forwarded by the NRC's letter either remains in draft forn or has been superceded by ?IEEG-0654, which is still under corrent. Furthermore, the South '%xas Project is not scheduled to tegin corrercial operation until 1984 In view of these circum-stances, Housten Lighting & Power Cc=nany will defer subtrlttal of an upgraded Scuth Texas Project Emergency Plan until a later date consistent with the Project's licensing schedule and the develop-ment of IEC guidance.
