Mr. J. P. O'Reilly, Director
Dear Mr. O'Reiliy:
SUBJECT:
Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-416/417 File 0272/15525/15526 PRD-80/12, Status Report, Design Nomographs Related to ITT General Controls Hydramotor Electrohydraulic Actuators AECM-80/87 On March 28, 1980, Mississippi Power & Light Company notified Mr. M. J.
Gouge of your office of a Potentially Reportable Deficiency (PRD) at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station (GGNS) construction site. The deficiency con-cerns design nomographs used in the sizing and selection of hydramotor electrohydraulic actuators. The nomographs and actuators are supplied by ITT Ceneral Controls. This matter was previously reported to the NRC by the supplier under 10 CFR 21. The concern is that the nomographs may be interpreted incorrectly and may result in the incorrect sizing and selection of actuators. The nomographs in question pertain to Model NH90 series and j
AH90 series electrohydraulic actuators.
In the above referenced initial notification of March 28, 1980, the vendor was incorrectly identified as ITT Grinnell General Controls. The l
correct vendor name is ITT General Controls.
Our preliminary investigation revealed that four (4) actuators (Model-NH91) have been procured for use in the Standby Gas Treatment System at GGNS.
