NRC letter' dated 3/31/80~from R. W. Beid to A. E. Lundvall, LNG Contingency Plan Meeting Gentlemen:
The referenced letter forwarded the minutes of a meeting held between NRC nnd BG&E on February 21, 1980 to discuss the status of the UIG Contingency Plan and related areas.
In those minutes, it was stated that BG&E proposed to install an LNG emergency broadcast monitor by May 1,1980.
This system wculd passively monitor U!G frequencies and activate upon receipt of an R;G emergency brcadcast tone (signal). The system is only required-at Calvert Cliffs during periods of LNG tanker-related activities.
This is to inform you that, due to the difficult and time-consuming nature of the cable routing for the installation of the monitor, we now expect to have the system fully installed and operational by June 13, 1980. This shor+. extension of the installation schedule should not result in an unacceptable 14 vt on the effectiveness of the Contingency Plan, especially since there is currently no LNG tanker activity at the Cove Point Terminal due to the recent action of the Algerian government to halt LNG shipments.
