SUBJECT:

Response to Request for Additional Information Related to Request for Relief from American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Code Case N-729-4 Supplemental Examination Requirements ANO1-ISI-033 Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 1 NRC Docket No. 50-313 Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-51 By letter dated October 31, 2019 (Reference 1), Entergy Operations, Inc. (Entergy), requested NRC approval of a proposed relief from the supplemental examination of the Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 1 (ANO-1) reactor vessel closure head (RVCH) required by ASME Code Case N-729-4. The proposed relief was requested pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55a(z)(2) due to the hardship of performing the supplemental examinations. The RAI was formalized in email dated November 7, 2019 (Reference 2). The RAI contained two questions which are stated below, immediately followed by the Entergy response to each.
