  • Inspection Report (IR) 2014-001, conducted April 8, 2014

(591M Part 3 ML14157A408), listed the licensee logs that

were reviewed documented the licensee received one portable

gauge, TEL Model 3400 Series (Model 3430 as listed on leak

test) on 8/12/2013 and returned it on 12/9/2013return

documentation included in the termination request (termination

letter and leak tests) demonstrated the gauge was not leaking

Initial inspection conducted on April 8, 2014, (591M Part 1

ML14157A409, 591M Part 3 ML14157A408) resulted no violations

noted and a Clear, 591M, issued in the field.

Based on the above information and documentation, Weed Engineering

Inc., NRC License 50-35055-01 can be terminated. The leak tests

reviewed that were submitted with the termination request document that

the sources did not leak while in the licensees possession. The gauges

were returned to MAPPA, Inc., NRC License No. 50-23306-01, Docket

No. 030-20884 on 12/9/2013 and the leak tests documented no leakage

upon receipt (ML19291C278). The location at 2193 Peede Road, North

Pole, Alaska is recommended released for public access.

Condition 2:

radioactive material (i.e., T1/2 less than or equal to 120 days) in an

unsealed form, the maximum activity authorized under the license

has decayed to less than the quantity specified in 10 CFR Part 20,

Appendix C, and the licensees survey performed in accordance

with 10 CFR Part 30.36 does not identify any residual levels of

radiological contamination greater than decommissioning

screening criteria.

BASIS FOR TERMINATION AND/OR RETIREMENT:

The licensee submitted NRC Form 314 dated August 6, 2019 along with the supporting

documentation that one loaner, a Troxler Electronic Laboratories Model 3400 Series (Model

3430) was returned to MAPPA, Inc., NRC License No. 50-23306-01, Docket No. 030-20884,

with the documentation contained in the termination request correspondence (ML19226A400).

The corresponding leak tests performed prior to transfer and upon receipt by MAPPA, Inc. on

November 28, 2018, documented the source was not leaking (ML19226A400, ML19291C278);

therefore, the license is terminated.

The location at 2193 Peede Road, North Pole, Alaska 99705, is suitable for unrestricted

use in accordance with 10 CFR 20.1402, "Radiological Criteria for Unrestricted Use." Based on

these conclusions, no further remediation or actions with respect to NRC regulated material is

required.
