THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 1987, COMMISSIONERS' CONFERENCE ROOM, D.C. OFFICE (OPEN TO PUBLIC ATTENDANCE)

The Commission met with the regional administrators to discuss activities and status of plants at each of NRC's five regions.

Commissioner Asselstine requested the staff to determine if it can clarify what makes plants like Ginna and Millstone have successful maintenance programs while other plants, such as Peach Bottom and Salem have less successful programs.

The staff committed to update the Commission if, in recent months, there has been a reduction in the backlog of maintenance items, including equipment out of service, at Fermi.

The Commission requested that, at the next briefing by the regional administrators, the staff highlight meritorious initia-tives by licensees as well as lessons learned from plants which have received high SALP ratings.
