PROPOSED EXPORT THAT NO LONGER REQUIRES COMMISSIONER REVIEW (XU08498)
Attached for your review are copies of a May 22, 1980 application and a copy of the proposed license for the export of 34,500 kilograms of depleted uranium to the Atomic Energy of Canada over a three-year period for use as shielding for medical cancer therapy equipment.
1 Executive Branch views are not required for the proposed export as the license request falls within the categories of materials listed in 10 CFR 110.41(b) which are not normally reviewed by the Executive Branch; and Commissioner review is no longer required for this type of export under revised 10 CFR Part 110 regulations.
You will note from the application that this request is similar to license SUE-8359 (licensa and related material attached) which inadvertently expired without the licensee's knowledge. Unless we are advised by your office within 7 working days from the date of this memorandum, of any pcrticular issues which may require further analyses, it is IP's intention to issue a license for the proposed export.
