Dear Dr. DISibio:
Enclosed is a camera-ready copy of the proceedihgs of the February 20-21, 1980 meeting on low-level radioactive waste.
Although we initially contemplated a recomendations section, we found participants were not very specific as to the nature of the recomenda-tions. We propose now to send a copy of the conference proceedings to the principal participants, including State and federal representatives, and industrial pt ticipants such as the AIF, requesting specific recom-mendations for action. We propose to ask the participants to place particular emphasis on those recomendations they thanselves are willing to undertake.
If we proceed along these lines, we certainly would be prepared to identify specific issues on which we can work.
Because the meeting was jointly sponsored by the State and the fluclear Regulatory Comission (?lRC), we invite your concurrence with this approach.
If you have any suggestions for. further NRC action, please let us hear from you.
