May 4, 1980 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Att: Charles Trammell Washington, D. C. 20555 Re: Point Beach Nuclear Plant Dockets 50-266 and 50-301 i

Dear Str. Trammell:

This letter is to formally request the establishment of an  !

NRC document room for Wisconsin nuclear reactors in Stadison, Wisconsin.

A document room is necessary in >!adison, Wisconsin, especially for material related to the Point Beach Nuclear Plant because of the extremely significant decisions affecting the plant presently being made by State Government. The existing document room in Stevens Point, which is not open either evenings or weekends and which is a three hour drive from Madison, is completely inadequate.

Stadison is an appropriate site for an additional document room because it is the location of the Public Service Commission, )

the State Legislature and numerous citizen organi::ations deeply concerned with the issue.

We have contacted the Kurt F. Wendt Library, College of Engineer-ing, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and they have indicated a willingness to accept a document room for Wisconsin plants.

It should be clear, at the same time, that we are not seeking the removal of the existing document rooms from their present locations, but rather the establishment of a new document room in the state capitol. (
