OFFICE OF INSPECTION AND ENFORCEMENT BULLETIN 79-OlB - RII:JP0 50-259, -260, -296 - BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT By my letter to you dated March 7, 1980, I explained why TVA was unable to provide a response to Bulletin 79-OlB for the Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in accordance with the requested schedule and proposed a revised schedule for providing the response. Since that time, your staff has informally requested that TVA reassess the work required to improve upon the schedule outlined in the March 7, 1980, letter. Accordingly, we have evaluated our program to date and, because we have accomplished a great deal since early March, we are able to commit to a more timely schedule. The following is our best estimate schedule for responding to Bulletin 79-01B for Browns Ferry.
We will submit a response to items 1, 2. 3, and 5 by May 1, 1980. We will submit a response to the first part of item 4, i.e., an evaluation of the Class 1E electrical equipment qualification against the bulletin guidelines by July 11, 1980. We anticipate that development of the Equipment Qualification Plan will require extensive effort and for that reason it will not be included in the submittal of July 11, 1980.
This schedule reflects our best possible effort based on the work load presently ident,' lied. Any increases in that work load from additional bulletins, etc., vould impact that schedule. If you have any questions, please call Jim Doner at FTS 854-2014.
