Mr. James P. O'Reilly Gentlemen:

The Georgia Power Company hereby submits the following revision to our letter dated April 16, 1980, which responded to I&E Bulletin 80-02,

" Inadequate Quality Assurance For Nuclear Supplied Equipment".

Revised Response to Question la Reactor feedwater spargers and thermal sleeves manufactured by Marvin Engineering Company are currently installed at E. I. Hatch, Unit 1.

Subject spargers and thermal sleeves were supplied by its NSSS supplier, General Electric Company (GE), San Jose, California.

Unit 2 feedwater spargers were not manufactured by Marvin Engineering Company.

All subsequent references to Unit 2 feedwater spargers and thermal sleeves should be disregarded. A re-examination of the Unit 2 feedwater sparger documentation package, after receiving comments from GE, indicated that the spargers were not, in fact, fabricated by Marvin Engineering.

We regret this oversight.

If you have any questions in regards to this information revision, please contact my office.

Sincerely yours, C tebJ g
