Docket No. 70-1308 (Renewal of SNM-1265)

Dear Board Members:

)

At the prehearing conference held in the referenced proceeding on February 29,

-- l 1980, the Staff had indicated that the Envirenmental Impact Appraisal (EIA) of the proposed renewal of the license for the GE Morris facility would be completed by April 30, 1980 (Tr. 35).

Due to the transfer of technical personnel who had been responsible for the preparation of the EIA, and to

  • he inability to complete the legal review of the draft EIA, the Staff was unable to issue the EIA by that date.

The Staff now anticipates that the EIA will be completed on or about May 30, 1980. Upon completion and issuance of the EIA, copies will be distributed to the Licensing Board and parties in the referenced proceeding.

Sincerely, lAusfb lilstm ODLacibkl Marjorie Ulman Rothschild Counsel for NRC Staff cc: Service List s
