NRC STAFF RESPONSE TO REQUEST FOR PERMISSION TO PARTICIPATE AS AN INTERESTED STATE AGENCY FILED BY DR. IRA L. MYERS, STATE HEALTH OFFICER, STATE OF ALABAMA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC HEALTH On March 21, 1980, Ira L. Myers, M.D., State Health Officer of the State of Alabama Department of Public Health, addressed a letter to the Secretary of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in which he requested permission for himself or his designee "to participate in any hearing conducted in this matter... pursuant to 10 CFR 2.715(c)." /

The NRC Staff would welcome the participation of the State Health Officer of the State of Alabama as the representative of an interested State agency in the event any hearing is conducted in this matter.
