Grand Gulf Nuclear Station Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-416/417 File 0272/15525/15526 PRD-80/05, Status Report, Electrical Cable Insulation, Damaged During Pulling Process AECM-80/73 On March 13, 1980, Mississippi Power & Light Company notified Mr. F. Cantrell of your office of a Potentially Reportable Deficiency (PRD) at the Grand Gulf Nuclear Station construction site. The deficiency con-cerns electrical cable insulation damage sustained during the cable pulling process.
This deficiency is currently under investigation. Thus far, our findings indicate that the damaged cable, located in the Control Room HVAC system, would not have adversely affected the safety of plant operations.
However, our study is continuing to determine the extent and implications of this problem.
We expect to provide to you our final report and determination of re-portability on this matter by June 23, 1980. Our findings and corrective actions, to date, are summarized in the attached status report on PRD-80/05.
