STATUS OF THREE MILE ISLAtlD NUCLEAR STATION OFFSITE EMERGEtiCY RADIOLOGICAL ENVIRONMEtlTAL M0t1ITORIrlG PROGRAM March 28, 1980 through April 3, 1980 Program Summary The Three liile Island Nuclear Station Offsite Emergency Radiolooical Environmental Monitoring Pronram consists of daily surface and drinking water samples taken at one upstream raw drinking water station, one uostream surface water station, one plant intake station, one plant effluent station, five downstream drinking water stations (at which three raw and four finished samples are taken), and two downstream stations located on tributaries flowino into the Susque h na. Additional samples include weekly milk samples at five locations, weekly air particulate and air iodine samoles at eight locations, monthly precipitation samples at four locations and quarterly TLDs at 73 locations (of which 20 are also sampled monthly). Fishes, aquatic plants, and aquatic sediments will be sampled in July and October if available, and miscellaneous food products will be sampled as available. Weekly Status (analytical results received during the subject period) Surface and drinking water samples had normal tritium and gross beta - activities with no gamma-emitting radionuclides detected. No radioiodine was detected in air, precipitation, or milk samples. Gross beta analyses of precipitation samples were at normal ambient levels as were analyses for tritium. Gamma spectroscopy of precipitation samples noted only the presence of naturally-occurring beryllium-7, while similar analyses of milk samples showed the the presence of naturally-occurring potassium-40 and normal fallout levels of cesium-137.
