U April 21, 1980 Director, Nucletr Reactor Regulation Att Mr Dennis L Ziemann, Chief Operating Reactors Branch No 2 US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-155 - LICENSE DPR BIG ROCK POINT PLANT - QUALITY ASSURANCE REQUIREVENTS REGARDING DIESEL GENERATOR FUEL OIL By NRC letter dated January 7,1980, (Quality Assurance Requirements Regarding Diesel Generator Fuel Oil), Consumers Power Company was requested to review our Quality Assurance (QA) Program with regard to diesel fuel oil for the Big Rock Point Plant.

Diesel fuel oil is not included in the Big Rock Point Plant QA Program. However, diesel fuel oil vill be included by May 31, 1980. Based on Part D (implementation) of Regulatory Guide 1.137, Big Rock Point Plant is exempt from the testing require-ments of this Regulatory Guide.

However, testing requirements are outlined in the Big Rock Point Plant Technical Specifications 4.7.11.1.l(c) which requires that a sample of diesel fuel from the fuel storage tank be tested in accordance with ASTM-D270-65 and is within the acceptable limits specified in Table 1 of ASTM-D975-7h with respect to viscosity, water content and sediment. This test is conducted at least once per 92 days.
