gel.TLEMSN, In his State of the liation Speech, Tie President proposed the use of Arms to protect our Oil interest in the Persian Gulf. This is serious! He is also ur-ging the use of all other ene'rgy alternates to oil.

Yet, I have read just recently and on several occ.aions during the last six nonths that the Nuclear Regulatory Cc==ission is delaying the start - up of a proven Nuclear Gener-ating Flant thru very burdensene hearing and over-cautious de= ands stenn-ing fro = recent publicity.

I am referring to the ihree Mile Island Plant # 1, unharned by the accident.

This Plant is ready to start up now...

^ ~ _ _

w The extended course of pre-hearing procedures, he'arings, and then decisiens, mandated by the N.R.C. Points to a start-up no earlier than September 1980.

~-

This plant, when on line, produced power at a fuel cost of lessthan 3 tenths of.a Cent per Kilawatt hour, about that of coal fired electricity, and about enef fifteenth that of oil fired energy.

Currently this Company has to byy 011 generated current at excess cost to their Custonsrs $1f4 l'.hllion ter month.

The centinuation of this buying progran nacissitates the inportation of 7 Million barrels of 011 per year just when this country is trying to reduce oil.consunption.

Floase lock into this urgent natter thru proper channels and encourage the N.R.C. to streanline and speed up its process. This is no time for "'irist Slapping" because their daalings with owner, Gen. Public Utilities. We've got a National Emergency.
