Dear Mr. Grier:
We have reviewed I.E.Bulletin 79-27 concerning Loss of Class IE and/or Non-Class IE instrumentation and control power system bus during operation.
The results are as follows:
1.
The review of Class IE and Non-Class IE buses supplying power to all instrumentation and control systems which could affect the ability of the station to achieve a cold shutdown has been completed and reviewed by the Onsite Safety Committee.
The review included the alarms and indications provid:ed in the control room, identification of the instrument and control systems bus loads and the effects of loss of power to the station.
No modifications are required as a result of the review.
2.
Emergency procedures have been prepared covering Items 2a, b and e of the bulletin.
Review by the Onsite Safety Committee and approval of these procedures will be completed by March 15, 1980.
No modifications are required to implement these procedures.
3.
A re-review of I.E. Circular 79-02 was completed including Class IE and Non-Class IE inverters. We have concluded that the circular does not apply to Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit No.1 since there is no automatic transfer, to the alternate source of power, scheme used.
