P90PDSED RULE February 13, 1980 Mr. Sheldon A. Schwartz Assistant Director for Program Development Office of State Programs United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C.
20555
Dear Mr. Schwartz:
It was unfortunate that the workshop was interrupted as'I be-lieve there were several areas that could have been discussed.
There is certainly a need to review all areas of emergency pre-paredness.
Wayne County is presently upgrading its plan with regards to the Ginna Plant.
Monroe County is initiating planning at this time.
In 1976 the emergency planning office was eliminated.
I am presently the only one working on emergency planning.
Every effort will be made to complete a plan prior to the end of the year.
As stated at the meeting, I agree that the Ginna Plant should not be shutdown.
I will be meeting with the Emergency Preparedness Director of Wayne County and personnel of the Ginna Plant to initiate planning and development of a plan.
In accordance with the rule changes, I believe every considera-tion should be given to keep the Ginna Plant open as every possible effort will be made to prepare a functional and adequate plan for Monroe County.
Sincerely, 1
