License No. DPR-36 (Docket No. 50-309)
(2)
IE Bulletin 79-01B, dated January 14, 1980 (3)
YAEC Letter No. WMY 79-63, dated June 15, 1979
Subject:
Environmental Qualification of Class lE Equipment Dear Sir The NRC request for additional information in Reference (2) is based on their preliminary review of all licensee responses to IE Bulletin 79-01, and as such, tends to assume that all responses are identically deficient in the areas mentioned.
We do not believe that these generalizations are applicable to the Maine Yankee response. Our response, Reference (3), to Bulletin 79-01 represented the culmination of a massive in-house effort to determine the environmental qualification of safety-related electrical equipment. We believe that we have conscientiously provided you with all the specific information required in Bulletin 79-01.
We have addressed operation of equipment both inside and outside the primary containment, and w have used a format that is very s imilar to the one attached to Bulletin 79-018.
Although w believe all the required information is already contained in Reference (3), with the exception of the newly identified areas in 79-OlB, we are submitting the following items to cover the 45 day submittal requirements of IE Bulletin 79-018.
Because of the extremely heavy demand placed on us recently to respond to various other NRC concerns, certain data required for this submittal is not yet available.
This missing data will be sent to you as it becomes available and as indicated below:
