APPOINTMENT OF MR. JAMES P. GLEASON AS A PART-TIME MEMBER OF THE ATOMIC SAFETY Atl0 LICENSING BOARD PANEL PURPOSE:
Comission approval for the appointment of a Panel Member DISCUSSION:
We recomend your approval of the nomination of Mr. Gleason as a part-time lawyer member of tnis Panel.
He received an LL.B. degree fecm Georgetown University in 1950 and has been a memcer of the Bar since that time.
Mr. Gleason served as a part-time lawyer memoer of the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel from 1967 to 1970.
Thereaf ter, he was elected County Executive of Montgomery County, Maryland.
When he retired frcm elective public office at the conclusion of his second term as County Executive in December 1978, he was appointed a Fellow at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.
He has now completed tnat assignment and return ( '. to the Washington, D.C., area to resume the private practice of law.
Mr. Gleason has ex-pressed the cestre to be reappointed to tne Panel as a part-time member.
We believe Mr. Gleason would make a most valuable addition to the Panel roster.
