ORDER RELATIVE TO PENDING MATTERS On February 15, 1980, Portland General Electric Company (PGE) announced that it had concluded that Pebble Springs cannot be completed in time to meet the late 1980's energy requirements and was evaluating other energy options.

PGE stated that it now planned on Pebble Springs for meeting its energy demands for the 1990's.

The Applicant requested the Licensing Board to proceed on site suitability issues and to issue a partial decision on these matters.

PGE requested that the evidentiary hearing commence on May 15--a date that was tentatively discussed at the December 19, 1979 prehearing conference.

3oo408051"7 On March 10, 1980, the NRC Staff supported the Applicant's request to proceed with site suitability matters.

The Staff stated that the Final Supplement to the FES (on alternate sites) was scheduled to be issued on March 31, 1980--but announced on March 24 that it would be delayed 15 days.

The Staff made several suggestions relative to proceeding in this matter and on those issues it considered outside the scope.

The Board delayed its response on the expectation that other parties would respond to the Staff's suggestions.

Since this has not happened, the parties have ten (10) days from the receipt of this order to respond to the Staff's proposals.

Other Board commitments concerned with more immediate priorities prevent the Board from scheduling any proceeding relating to Pebble Springs from May 5 through May 16, 1980.

IT IS SO ORDERED.
