Miller Acting Director Division of Site Safety and Environmental Analysis Of fice of Nuclear Reactor Regulations U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555

Dear Mr. Miller:

I was unable to attend the meeting in Baltimore on February 15, 1980 to discuss the programmatic environmental impact statement which is being prepared on the d2 contamination and disposal of radio-active wastes resulting from tl.e accident at Three Mile Island Nuc-lear Station Unite 2.

I am most concerned over the clean-up activ-ities and the impact on the Susquehanna River.

The Susquehanna River is an important natural resource.

Many communities down stream draw their municipal water supplies from the river and it is imperative that no contaminated water from TMI 2 be released into the river.

Every effort should be made to insure that no leakage of water occurs that would endanger the lives of those dependent on the river for their water supply.

I fully support the programmatic environmental impact statement and would urge that no actions be permitted at the site until a com-plete impact of such actions on the Susquehanna is determined.

Faithfully yours, chu%-

ROBERT E.
