You will, of course, make every effort to assure us that you are doing everything possible to protect us and that our lives are. safe in your hands.
Do we have a democratic government responsible to the people or some kind of paternalistic autocracy responsible to industrial and economic interests first and the public second?
Is it not all tco clear, from such plans as you envision-for what we had a right to expect as a full public hearing-why the public has less and less faith in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission?
With strategies that seem to flout our citizens as uneducated in matters of nuclear power problems and hazards, and who must be continually assured and reassured by government, and industry officials who are "far more knowledgeable,
can, we believe, only expect rising distrust and criticism. We do not you wish to entrust our lives to your plans.
