Jackson, Michigan 49201 e Area Code 517 78H-05SO March 31, 1980 Director, Nuclear Reactor Regulation Att Mr Dennis L Ziemann, Chief Operating Reactors Branch No 2 US Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 DOCKET 50-155 - LICENSE DPR BIG ROCK POINT PLANT - CONSUMERS POWER COMPANY

.60-DAY RESPONSE TO NRC LETTER DATED JANUARY 1, 1980: ANCHORAGE AND SUPPORT OF SAFETY-RELATED ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT NRC letter of January 1, 1980 noted that certain safety-related electrical equipment may be inadequately anchored to resist seismically induced motion and requested that an' action plan be developed and submitted for resolution of the issue. This action plan was submitted by Consumers Power Company letter dated February 13, 1980.

This letter provides the necessary 60-day response (attached) required by the above STC letter, namely:

1.

Whether or not positive anchorage exists for the electrical equipment;

and, 2.

A description of actions considered necessary to correct deficient anchorages.

It is important to note that the corrective action given is general in nature and that additional engineering will be required to address installation problems prior to fixing the restraint design. Consumers Power Company anticipates resolving the overall issue as well as completing any required 8 004 ogg3p

2 action by the end of the next refueling outage scheduled to start on October 24, 1960.
