Dear Mr. President:
I am writing in regard to the recent action._bv theJuclear Reglatnry Comis11_o_n which will preclude._jssuing_the ope,ratingjJcenses_for.._thL t
four nuclear power plantis_which are essentiilly completie_ and rady to be liTrced~ in : service.
It is my understancing tnat the permits will be withheld until the recomendations resulting from the investigation of the Three Mile Island incident.can be implemented in these plants.
. I am_itrongkoppos.etto thh action.
It comes at a time when the American people need a low cost, clean, reliable source of electrical energy. Thro' ugh this action billions of. cubic feet of natural gas and millions and millions of barrels of ' petroleum derivatives are being '
consumed for the purpose of building steam for electric power generation.
This situation will continue to be aggravated by the nuclear power restraints. These valuable resources can most advantageously be used for residential needs'in the case of' gas and the transportation industry in the case of petroleum.
Any action that your office may take to expedite utilization of the investment in nuclear power, which is now idle, would be most sincerely appreciated.
Respectfully submitted,
,I
