I appreciate receiving your letter on the accident at Three Mile Island. I am sorry that my ansver to your letter has been delayed so long. We have been very busy here because of the accident.
We have organized several groups to identify safety concerns which came up in
!l the Three Mile Island accident. We will consider these safety concerns when we license new nuclear plants. We will also consider these concerns for nuclear l
plants now in operation.

NRC's review groups discovered a number of things in reactor design, analysis 1
and operations that will be required to provide additional protection of the public and safety. All nuclear power plants in operation or under construc-l tion will be required to varying degrees to comply with these reconnendations.
I NRC appreciates your views on nuclear power. We are pleased that you have j
taken the time to learn more about safety at the Three Mile Island Station and I
at all nuclear power plants.
