Dear Mr. Seyfrit:

South Texas Project Units 1 & 2 Docket Nos. STN 50-498, STN 50-499 IE Bulletin No. 79-28 Bulletin No. 79-28, received December ll,1979, requested each construction permit holder to submit information regarding the use of NAMC0 Model EA 780 stem mounted limit switches at their respective plants. In the response of February 1, 1980, Houston Lighting & Power Company informed you that the accumulated data for the South Texas Project would be sent to the NRC at approximately thirty-day in-tervals until the concern is fully resolved.

A progress report has been attached. Note that all potentially affected vendors have been informed of the concern. Two responses have been received:

one vendor has initiated corrective action, while equipment for STP from another vendor was not affected by this concern. Updates will continue to be transmitted to you as indicated.

If there are any questions, please contact us.

Very truly yours,
