< iia 94596 Rancho Seco Nuclear Ge.lerating Station No.1 Corrective Steps Taken to Correct Violation of NRC Requirements

Dear Mr. Engelken:

In your letter dated January 7,1976 you noted an activity that appears to be in violation of NRC regulations and our Quality Assurance Program.

This letter outlines the corrective measures taken to avoid further violations in the referenced activity.

The corrective measures taken with respect to documenting Class I spare parts are as follows:

1.

The use of the standard " boiler plate" Receiving Inspec-tion Data Report (RIDR) will be used on all Class I spare parts not requiring unique or special instruction for perfonning the receipt inspection.

2.

Quality Control Instruction No. 4 which is the quality procedure used to outline the use of the RIDR has been revised so that there should be no misunderstanding in the use of the " boiler plate" RIDR.

3.

As of this date, full compliance with NRC regulations and the Quality Assurance Procedures are expected on all spare parts received in the future.

4.

To prevent a recurrence in this area, during the next scheduled QA audit of the warehouse, one audit element will be to select several Class I items received after January 1,1976 and conduct.a check using the same general method employed by the NRC Compliance Inspector that uncovered the non-use of the RIDR on some warehouse material.
