Dear Mr. Bacon:
Your letter to Harold Denton of January 15 was referred to me for response.
Your letter indicated that the opening of our office in Middletown, Pennsylvania was to secure more exact control of Three Mile Island Plant operations from minute to minute and thus prevent anymore incidents. On the centrary, we opened the office in Middletown to provide the public a convenient place to meet with the NRC Technical Staff assigned to,the Three tiile island Recovery Program and discuss their concerns. At the sametime, we will cont *nue to maintain our offices on Three Mile Island as we have since the accident on March 28.
At tne present time, we have a Technical Staff of approximately 15 peoDie who provide coverage around the Clock seven days a week at Three Mile Island. We expect to maintain this level of effort for the duration of the Recovery Operation.
Should you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact me at 717/782-3955
