Mr. Harold Denton Nuclear RegulatorjCommission Bethesda, Maryland

Dear Mr. Denton,

First of all, let me say "Ihank You' for bringing some calm to this area during the recent Three Mile Island Crisis. You became for me the only person we could trust to give us the truth about the dancers and the picture of the situation in general. John Wayne is a great hero of mir.: and I began to see you as the same type of person as Wayne portrayed in "Ihe He11 fighters".

I was really disturbed when the announcement came out that you were returning home before the cold shutdown was achieved. I realize you have a family to consider and a job to do elsewhere, but I couldd'.t help feel as though you were leaving too soon.

Today, things are picking up again. Rumor has it that all the major corporations in this area were notified to prepare to close their plants for at least three days at which time a general evacuation of a 20 mile radius would take place. As an employee of Penna. State University, Capitol Campus with over 300 employees plus 1000+ students, this is a major concern. We have received ne such notification. And if a full scale evacuation is being considered, will those peopic responsible for it be able to handle it with short notice.

The general confusion that has reigned in this area for the past month 1 cads me to believe that there are very few people who know what is going on.

If indeed an evacuation of 20 air miles is scheduled, it would effect many nursing homes and 5 major hospitals. Certainly we need to have much better planning than was evident 3 weeks ago to accomplish such a major evacuation without loss of life.

Would yor be so kind as to answer a few questions for me.

Is there really a possibility of an evacuation of 20 air miles? Is the danger still so great?

If we are forced to evacuate, can we plan to be able ever to return to home in the Middletosn area or is there a chance of contamination to the ground that would force ts to relocate? WILL YOU BE RETURNING TO MIDDLETOWN TO OVERSEE THE FINIL PHASE 07 COLD SIRTIDOWN?

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,

/
