(Trojan Nuclear Plant)
Docket No. 50-344 (Control Building)
Gentlemen:
In the Licensing Board's Order of December 29, 1979, the Board requested that, if the Trojan facility is shut down for any reason, the Staff and Licensee inform the Board of the shutdown and provide information on the reasons there-for.
Today, the NRC's Resident Inspector for Trojan orally informed the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation that the Trojan facility was shut down at about 3:35 P.M. on February 5,1980..The shutdown resulted from an auto-matic reactor trip caused by a false electrical indication when a technician installing wires in the Control Room inadvertantly grounded a power supply.
Based on information available to the Staff, the shutdown was not seismic-related.
The cause of the shutdown was ascertained and the plant commenced a return to power at approximately 6 P.M. on February 5.
Sincerely, n
