Proposed Regulatory Guide 1.XX (RS 050-2), " QUALIFICATION TESTS OF ELECTRIC CABLES, FIELD SPLICFS AND CONNECTIONS EOR LIGHT WAFER COOLED NUCLEAR POWER PIMIS," dated April 5,1977, and recomended approval subject tc the following coments:

W e guide should incorporate language that emphasizes that the i
most severe postulated environmental conditions that result from the entire spectrum of design bases events should be used as test bases rather than those conditions that result from the IOCA alone.

Dr. Hanauer will provide a suggested write-up to the Director,
, Office of Standards Development, which suitably incorporates and satisfies Dr. Hanauer's concerns about the limitations that should be placed on the intent and use of the guide.
The Committee characterized this guide as, Category 1 - No backfit, recognizing that the backfit of the' fire protectTon aspects or this i
guide are controlled by Appendix A to Branch Technical Position 9.5-1.

The Committee characterized this guide as Category 1 - No backfit.
' Se Comittee discussed the extent to which reporting requirements as outlined in the revised Licensee Event Report Instruction Manual (dated April'26, 1977) imposes requirements which duplicate those of existing regulatory guides, and whether such duplication is justified (Item 3 of the agenda) and concluded tnat the duplication is minLmal and is justified by the benefits accrued.
