.'jE ? 2 +31'B9 Procedures for Meetirgs l-g.

7 sac mRouso Procedures to be followed with respect to meetings conducted by the Nuclear Regulatory Comission's Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, which were published October 4,1978 (43 FR 45926), are renewed by this notice. Wese procedures are set forth in order that they may be incorporated by reference in future individual meetire notices.

Se Advisory Comittee on Reactor Safeguards (ACRS) is an independent group established by Congress to review and report on each application for a construction permit and on each application for an operating license for a reactor facility and on certain other nuclear safety matters. We Comit-tee's reports become a part of the public record. Although ACRS meetings are ordinarily open to the public and provide for oral or written statements from merbers of the public to be considered as a part of the Comittee's information gathering procedure, they are not adjudicatory hearings such as are conducted by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's Atomic Safety and Licens-ing Board as part of the Commission's licensing process. ACRS reviews do not normally encompass matters pertaining to environmental impacts other than those pertaining to radiological safety. ACRS full Comittee, Subcomittee, and Working Group meetings are conducted in accordance with sections 29 and 182b. of the Atomic Energy Act (42 U.S.C. 2039, 2232b.).
