P. F. Collins, Chief, OLB/DRL BABCOCK & WILCOX SHORT COURSE FOR MANAGEMENT The week May 10-14, 1971 spent attending B&W's one-week training course was very worthwhile. The material presented, see attached schedule, was well thought out, detail enough to be meaningful from our viewpoint and well presented by the instructors.
I was impressed by the competence of the B&W instructors and particularly the effort expended to answer all questions asked by the participants.
The course was flexible enough to allow me to spend an afternoon for training on the simulator.
Areas of instruction I found most informative were:
1.
Review of B&W reactor, components and instrumentation.
2.
Operation of the simulator.
3.
Review of operating procedures with operating personnel.
)
4 Visit fuel fabricating plant. Observed fuel assembly and pressurizing fuel rods.
5.
Review of B&W research and development work, i.e. digital protective channel.
6.
B&W pretest program and time schedule.
7.
B&W quality assurance program.
Based on my experience I would strongly recommend that DRL personnel take advantage of future opportunities to participate in the training course.
B&W does not plan to conduct the course again in 1971 because of commit-ment of personnel to the Oconee startup. However, the course will be given again in 1972.
