B & W NFPS On August 5,1970 Mr. Barsey and I visitea the B & W Training Center in kynchburg, Va. to receive a progress report of their training programs and observe the operation of tne NFPS.

B & W still does not furnish an individual to assist their customers during the observation period of the overall training program. However, they do provide a very detailed outline of the scope of the training based on FPC literature.

B & W has started becoming involved with the on-site trainine programs.

As a minimum they will conduct examinations prior to the AEC exami-nations to inform their custcmers of areas in which they found in-adequate knowledge.

B & W ale compilin6 vritten procedures for use at the NPPS. These procedures are being developed as the simulator is being debugged.

We had an opporutnity to meet the two NPPS instructors. Both individuals have a good background in nuclear power plant operations and appeared well versed in the peculiarities of the B & W two loop plant.

We requested Jim Deddens to furnish us with the day-to-day schedule for the NFPS training program as soon as it is developed.

B & W is planning to install an on-line computer as part of the NFPS.

They believe it is essential for proper trainin6 Sincerely, l

6E Paul F. Collins, Chief Operator Licensin6 Branch Division of Reactor Licensing 80012000%
