Dear Ralpli:
As part of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission t investigation into the Three Mile Island accident, we are pursuing allegations that the plant was rushed into commrcial operation in order to achieve certain tax and financial ad-vantages. According to the Washington Post of April 6,1979, Public Citizen held a news conference alleging such action.
We would appreciate it if you could mke available to us a copy of the material presented to the press at that news conference as well as a copy of the letter Public Citizen sent to President Carter, the study released by Public Citizen suggesting "that the decision to put the unit into commerical operation wa's an economic decision that disregarded a troubling record of mchanical mlfunctions" (Washington Post, April 6,1979), and any other in-formtion which might assist us.
I would appreciate it if you would arrange to make the informtion available to David Evans, NRC/TMI Special Inquiry, U.S. Nucl-ear Regulatory Commission, AR-400, Washington, D. C. 20555.
If you have any questions, please call me at 492-8900 or Mr. Evans at 492-8947.
Thank you for your assistance.
Sincerely, N
