Dear Mr. Hendrie:
I appreciate the cooperation of the Commission in briefing me and other federal officials and scientists on the current situation at Three Mile Island.
My interest, as you know, arises from my concern for the impact of actions at Three Mile Island on the Chesapeake Bay region.
At our briefing on November 5, the NRC representative discussed the potential disposal and storage options for the cleaned up intermediate-level wastewater.
It is my understanding that once a proposal has been made by the Metropolitan Edison Company to the Commission, the NRC will conduct an in-house environmental assessment of that

proposal.
The environmental assessment, we were told, will be subject to public review and comment prior to a final NRC order.
In order to assure that the several affected interest groups within the State of Maryland are notified when that proposal is made and.tssessment begins, I ask that the Commission notify me at the time either event occurs.
