Dear Mr. Hendrie:
The ongoing decontamination of water at the Three Mile Island reactor has those of us who reside downstream very much concerned about the future disposal of that processed water.
While the, Secretary of Natural Resources and the Governor of Maryland have indicated that they want assurances that no water be dispused of that does not meet TMI's current operating permit, many of our local elected officials feel that additional assurances are needed.
We have many questions regarding the clean-up process, the cumulative effects of possible remaining contaminants such as tritium, the time frame of disposal, and the procedure that the NRC and EPA will follow once the Epicar II clean-up is finalized.
In light of the valid concerns of the citizens who depend on the River as a drinking water source, it seems imperative that we answer all the pressing questions that are being raised.
There-fore, I am requesting that representatives of your agency agree to meet in the Harford-Cecil County area of Maryland in the very near future with our elected officials and citizens.
As Co-Chairman of the Maryland Joint Energy Committee, I can assure you that our citizens and officials must be given the opportunity to receive the most up-to-date, accurate information regarding the nuclear cle'an-up process if the nuclear indust _mr is to continue as a viable source of electric power in7 g s g g.

Mr. Joseph Hendrie, Chairman November 23, 1979 Page Two I will personally see to the details of the requested meeting once I receive a commitment on your part.
Thank you very much for your co-operation.
I cannot stress too strongly the importance of my request.
Sincerely, 7
Catherine I. Riley CIR:B O
